Having previously worked with Dene on both event and online training video projects, his “corporate ” video was visually something different to much of our work. The concept was based on an example we looked at, but with which we didn’t have the budget or resources to compete.
We used a mix of direct and interview style talking heads, supplemented by a variety of b-roll footage shot at home and on a journey to London, very “fly on the wall” style. To achieve an intimate feel I used the Canon 5D throughout, which also helped to keep the filming of the documentary footage unobtrusive.
The B-roll and supplementary collateral were used to help tell the story and amplify the dialogue, as well as breaking up the length of the video which ran longer than most profile videos due to its concept.

This is a good example of multiple uses of the same footage, and not throwing away great content that couldn’t be squeezed into a 3 minute video. We filmed at a weekend so that the full surgery was available and there was no interruption to patients or revenue earning appointments.
This is a series of educational coaching videos filmed in a ‘studio’ setting and supplemented by graphics. Long scripts needed autocue, and the edit points planned in advance.
One of our favourite ever projects, despite needing something like 30 setups in 8 locations in the course of a day. This was an early use of the Canon 5D and it proved its worth in focussing attention onto subject matter and away from sometimes stark backgrounds.
